Columbia Public Library has limited “physical” newspapers in our archive so if a patron needs more info or they don’t want to dig through actual newspapers they can go to Morrison Talbot Library.  MTL have digital archives but they do not have the years consisting of 1956-1967. There is also a local historian at MTL.

If the patron still cannot find what they are looking for, they can call The University of Illinois since their archives of Monroe County newspapers are complete.

U of I Urbana

(217) 333-2290 – Ask if they have the specific year of newspaper needed, if they do, the patron will need to call (217) 333-1509 where they will scan and email the page(s) need.

(This information was received by a patron who ended up calling U of I for an article not found at CPL or MTL).
